Highlighting Your Features--The Final Step to Getting a Flawless Face

Highlighting selected features on your face can really make you pop and just give a sexy candlelit grow. Megan Fox is one celebrity that ALWAYS has a beautifully highlighted face. You can highlight your face with powder, cream, or liquid products. I personally use (and love!) Hard Candy’s So Baked Bronzer in “Tiki” as my highlight (see “Jackpot--June Product Hits” for more information on this product). You basically just want a product that has some shimmer to it because that creates a nice illuminating effect. Avoid using a product with glitter in it as your highlight because you don’t want to look like a disco ball. Now highlighting is different for many people and knowing your skin type and bone structure are really going to help you decide what to highlight. Before I tell you where to highlight lets address the skin issue. If you have oily to combination skin you are going to want to be carefully with how much product you use and where you put it. You don’t want to look like a grease ball so if you tend to get oily on your forehead and nose you should probably skip these areas or use very little product there. On the flip side, if you have dry skin (like I do) you can play a bit more. Oftentimes dry skin can look dull and very flat so highlighting more areas can really bring your face back to life. With this said knowing your bone structure helps because when you know which areas are less structurally defined, you then know which feature to play up. For example, I have a round face so what I like to do is apply more highlight to my cheekbones to make them more noticeable (contouring darkens/hides areas while highlighting brings them out). Anyway, these are places you can choose to highlight: your forehead, brow bone, inner corner/tear duct, slightly above your cheekbones and up towards the temples (Megan Fox always has this area highlighted), the bridge of your nose, your cupid’s bow (that teardrop shape above your upper lip), under the hallows of you cheek, and your chin. You should always highlight those areas surrounding your eyes (brow bone, inner corner, and cheekbone up towards temples) but the rest is up to you. I personally highlight all the areas on my face that I’ve colored in on the picture with the exception of that area under the bronzer. So take a good look in the mirror and feel your face (yes I said touch it!) because no one has the same bone structure and only you can determine your prominent and not so prominent facial features. I am sorry that this post couldn’t be more “paint by numbers” but hopefully this is giving you a step in the right direction.
