Nothing can be more frustrating or ruin a look faster than fallout. For everyone who isn’t exactly sure what fallout is it is little bits of eyeshadow that have not stuck to your eyelid and fallen down onto your cheek. I figured this post would be helpful for those trying to recreate the “A Little Smoked Out” look below because it does involve the use of some darker shadows; and, for those who are actually using the NAKED palette I have already mentioned in my review of this palette that “Creep” does tend to have a problem with fallout. Well enough talk, here’s how to save your look…
Ways to LESSEN the Amount of Fallout
-Use an eye primer. Primer not only keeps your shadows from creasing and fading throughout the day but they also help “grab” you eyeshadow. As mentioned earlier I have heard wonderful things (although I have not personally tried it) about ELF’s eye primer. This primer can be found in Target stores or on their website for $1. I use Urban Decay’s Primer Potion which can be purchased at Sephora for $18. I love the Primer Potion but it does have a tendency to make things a little difficult to blend so I actually use a lot of bases as primers. I really like MAC’s paint pots ($12 online or at a MAC counter), ELF’s duo cream eyeshadows ($1 in Target or online) and NYX’s jumbo eye pencils ($2.99 on cherryculture.com or $4.50 in Ulta and online).
-Pat your eyeshadow on rather than trying to blend it onto you lid.
Ways to REMOVE Fallout
-Apply extra translucent finishing powder under your eye and on the top of your cheeks before applying your eyeshadow. The fallout will land on top of this powder instead of your foundation. After you have finished applying your shadows just knock off that extra powder.
-This is the last way I know of to remove fallout (and my favorite). Take a piece of tape and just lightly stick it on top of any fallout you have and pull it off. In a way it’s kind of like lint rolling your face. The fallout is stuck to the tape and your face makeup is still flawless. I use this technique daily and it works wonders for me.
