Let’s Work On Our Insides--Nutrition

Before I get into this I want to reiterate that I am not a specialist however, I do and have always tried to lead a healthy lifestyle and have taken a particular interest in fitness and nutrition. I am currently jumpstarting my “diet” and exorcise routine because as some of you may or may not know on April 7th (yes I know the exact date!) I fractured my right collarbone at rugby practice. I have been out of my sling since the end of May but my collarbone is not completely healed yet which limits the types of exorcise I can do. I have a naturally fast metabolism and I’m very active which gives me a higher calorie intake than most females and some men. When I am out of training my calorie intake is 2,200 and when I’m in training (3+ hours of exorcise a day) I’m over 3,000. Needless to say when I couldn’t exorcise for two months and continued to eat like I did I gained some weight. As someone who has always been in their peak physical condition any fat gain is frustrating. My boyfriend and I have recently moved and made a pack to eat healthier. We now shop at Trader Joe’s (cheapest “healthy” grocery store and its cheap!) and make a point to buy organic, not overly processed foods that contains no GMIs (genetically modified ingredients…no five winged chickens). I DO NOT BELIEVE IN DIETING! Dieting is absolutely stupid. Life is too short not to be able to eat something you enjoy. What I believe in is eating when I’m hungry (truly hungry not just bored), drinking lots of water (helps curve cravings and prevents me from breaking out), and indulging when I am truly craving something. In my apartment I have NO junk food. If I want a piece of chocolate I have to want it enough to drive to a store to get it. I rarely drink liquor or eat red meat. I also don’t believe in taking vitamins because I don’t have any deficiencies (for example I’m not anemic) which means I am not eating correctly if I’m not getting the right amount of vitamins/nurturance from my food. I have started to keep a daily food journal and plan all of my meals/workouts with the aid of a nutrition based website. I will be doing a series on quick, healthy, and cheap meals (because the leading cause of obesity is POVERTY) that taste amazing. This is a safe site that is meant to empower us! I offer support and encouragement to all those who care to join me on my healthy lifestyle journey (you don’t have to eat organic; you just need a desire to eat better). To demonstrate how serious I am about this being a safe, encouraging site here’s my current stats and my goals:
Current:
Height- 5ft 4in
Weight-132
BMI- 22.5
Mile Time:…well I haven’t run since I broke my collarbone but it’s significantly slower.
Goal (high school body):
Height- 5ft 4in (I haven’t grown in years lol)
Weight- 114-116
BMI- 19.5
Mile time: 6min 55 seconds…yeah I was a lean mean running machine who occasionally tripped over her own feet.
Here are the sites that I use and can provide assistance in the mean time:

Simple changes can make a big difference. For example if you switch from drinking coffee with cream and sugar to drinking it black you’ll lose 7lbs in a year.
Keep in mind that your weight is only a number and doesn’t define you. You decide the type of person you’re going to be not your weight. No one should be or deserves to be a captive of their scale. Trash the scale because measuring tape is a better and more accurate representation of your achievements.

Me at my peak! Sorry for the white spots but I had to erase my school name :)
