All Time Favorite: Foundation

laura mercier: Silk Creme Foundation (high-end)
I started using this foundation last winter and I have absolutely feel in love with it! This is a full-coverage foundation that has a consistency similar to a smooth mouse. This foundation glides on and gives a beautiful coverage with very little product. I use this foundation about 5 days a week and I've just purchased my second tube because I'm about to run out. The packaging recommends appling the product with a wet sponge but I personally believe that I get the best results when I use my fingers. I recommend using a powder to set this foundation because it can crease due to its consistency but I don't have a problem with this after I set it. The one issue I have with this product is that the color selection sucks. If you are very fair skinned or very dark you probably won't be able to find a shade that matches. But with that said they do carry one's that have slightly pink undertones and one's that have a slightly yellow under tone which can create a better color match for those who fall within their color selection. I purchased mine at Sephoria and this will set you back $42.

Revlon: Colorstay (drugstore)
This is such a wonderful foundation for many reasons but what got me interested enough to purchase it was the fact that they have a "Dry/Normal" skin version and an "Oily" skin version! I do have dry skin so I can only attest to the "Dry/Normal" formula; however, I have heard wonderful things about the "Oily" version. The coverage is about light to medium. When I apply this I use a damp sponge and apply a second layer after the first has dried. If you would like a fuller coverage I recommend setting this with a powder foundation rather than a translucent powder. This foundation has excellent staying power and I've never had any problems with creasing. The only thing I want to mention is that it does have yellow undertones. I have warm undertones so this looks very natural on me but if you have a cool undertone this might not match as well. This is my third bottle of this foundation and I've purchased it at CVS for about $8-$10.
