The days of liquid messy hair dye are over! Anyone who has ever gotten their hair dyed at a salon can testify that their prices are absolutely ridicules. I am a very hands on, do-it-yourself kind of girl so I refuse to pay someone else to dye my hair. I have been highlighting my hair since high school and dying it since I started college and foam is the way to go! Unlike many other hair dyes this one is only a three steps system:
You put 1 into 2 and give three good shakes then apply to your hair. Depending on where you pick this up it ranges from $8-$10. Below I have a list of pros and cons and some helpful tips for dying your hair at home.
Pros:
-The foam is easy to use
-No drip formula
-Easy application
-Price
-Hair is left with a nice shine
-16 shades
-Great coverage
Cons:
-Stinky
-Would prefer a pump to a squeeze bottle
-If you have larger hands the gloves may be a little small for you
Tips:
-Don't wear anything that you have to pull over your head to take off when dying your hair (either go nakie or wrap yourself in a towel)
-If you eyebrows are more than 2-3 shades lighter or darker than the color you have chosen make sure to dye them too. Black hair and blonde eyebrows looks tacky!
-Don't choose your color based on the models color on the box. Use the color guide on the back to get a better idea of your shade.
-Get dye on you forehead, neck, ears? No problem! Take either dish soap or Pantene shampoo on a wash cloth and rub the color away.
-Sectioning your hair will make your life easier.
-Use a wide tooth comb to detangle your hair as you go and help distribute the product
-If you're a beginner either use a mirror or ask someone to check the back of your hair to make sure you didn't miss any spots.
-If you're a platinum blonde DO NOT purchase any color with the word "ASH" in it...your hair will turn crazy colors!
-If the color comes out a little brassy or yellow Sally's has a very cheap shampoo that will help fix that (Shimmer Lights).
-If the color did something crazy beyond the aid of a tone correcting shampoo you can purchase a toner/dye at Sally's. Ask on of the employees to help you find the correct color for your hair.
