A DIY Healthy Snack That You Probably Haven't Heard Of

When you roast garbanzo beans (aka chickpeas) they become these delicious crunchy morsels that are perfect for munching on during movies! Garbanzo beans are high in fiber and protein and very low in fat. These little balls of protein are also a great source of iron and magnesium. Making these beans part of your regular diet can even help lower your cholesterol! Besides all the nutritional benefits, this snack is amazing because you are in control of the taste. After your beans have roasted toss them in a small amount of extra virgin olive oil and them add your favorite seasoning and shake! This is such a great snack and the flavors are only limited by your imagination…and pantry.

Directions:
-Preheat oven to 450 degrees
-In the meantime, thoroughly drain and rinse off garbanzo beans
-Place a piece of parchment paper on a cooking sheet
-Lay beans on top of the parchment paper in a single layer
-Cook for 30-35 minutes
-Let beans cool
-Place in container and drizzle with some extra virgin olive oil (be light handed)
-Sprinkle on desired seasoning and shake to mix.

Recipe for Picture Shown Above:
-2 cans of Trader Joe’s brand organic garbanzo beans
-a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil
-The Gourmet Collection Roasted Vegetables and Fries Spice Blend (found at Home Goods) for that yummy seasoned fry taste
