I will be the first to admit that I’m not the best at following a nighttime skincare routine but I always manage to find the time to remove my makeup. I keep makeup wipes in both my medicine cabinet and on my dresser; that way I have no reason not to remove my makeup before I go to bed. I have tried a lot of different makeup removers over the past two years and these are my absolute favorites:
e.l.f. Makeup Remover Cleansing Cloths ($3.00 for a pack of 20)
I was honestly shocked by how great these worked when I first tried them! You can use these cloths to cleanse your face after an intense workout or to remove the makeup that you applied in the morning. These wipes are infused with Aloe Vera extract which is moisturizing and great for people with dry, sensitive skin. Although these cloths are gentle and smooth they are still tough enough to remove waterproof mascara if you take the time to gently caress your lashes. There is a slight baby wipe smell but nothing that is overpowering. After your face has dried there is not residue left behind. I highly recommend picking up these wipes the next time you are in a Target store or on www.eyeslipsface.com.
Equate Regenerating Cleansing Cloths (~$3.50 for a pack of 30)
Wal-Mart has recently swithed to this packaging but if you think you’ve found this product but the packaging is different than you will be ok as long as the product’s name is the same. These are Wal-Marts version of Olay’s makeup wipes. One side is bumpy to help deep clean and remove dirt, impurities, and dead skin while the other side is smooth. These wipes contain vitamin A and C and claim to help minimize the appearance of fine lines; however, I cannot attest or deny that statement. This is an all-in-one cleansing cloth so there is no need to rinse your face with water. The only down side to this product is that it isn’t strong enough to remove waterproof mascara but it is still definitely worth picking up especially if you just want to wipe your face and hit the sack!
M.A.C Demi-Wipes (30 sheets for $15.00)
These by far have the strongest “removing power” of all the wipes. These are great for removing a full face of makeup or very dark, dramatic makeup. This wipe will without a doubt remove every trace of makeup from your face even waterproof mascara! These wipes are infused with vitamin E to help protect and hydrate your skin. As with the equate wipes there is no need to follow-up by rinsing your face with water. As with all your makeup wipes, remember to make sure that you have sealed the flap properly after every use and store upside down. You don’t want any of your wipes to dry out especially when they are costing you $15 a month! Furthermore, storing the package upside down will ensure that your top makeup wipe is always moist.
Sonia Kashuk Eye Makeup Remover ($9.99 for 4.75 oz)
This is the ideal eye makeup remover for klutzes! I always get solutions in my eyes no matter what I do, but this product is formulated for people with sensitive skin and/or contact wearers. This is a super gentle formula and will not burn or damage your eye if you accidently get some in your eye. All you have to do is shake the bottle to mix the solution then apply a small amount to either a cotton ball, round or q-tip and gently wipe it across your lid. Although it is gentle on your eyes it means business and removes all of your waterproof makeup without drying out your skin or leaving greasy residue. This is a great product to pick up the next time you are at Target.
M.A.C Cleanse Off Oil ($10.00 for 1 oz)
This is a great product if you are looking for a combination eye and face makeup remover but do not want to use a makeup wipe. It might seem scary at first to cleanse your face with oil but it will not break you out! I have spoken to many people who use this with all different skin types and none of them nor myself has had an issue with breaking out as a result of this product. This product is 100% mineral oil free (mineral oil is NOT good for your skin so please avoid it)! Apply a few drops to dry hands and massage onto a dry face. You will quickly start to see that the oil will become dirty (from your makeup) and once you have massaged your skin and lashes thoroughly you can rinse your face and follow up with the rest of your nighttime skincare routine.
Not everyone likes the same properties in a makeup remover so you may still have to try out a few different brands to find your perfect match, but this should give you a good starting point. I also wanted to mention that I did not try to provide both high-end and drugstore products, these just happen to be the ones that I think are the best regardless of the price. Although I must say it does make me happy to is M.A.C and e.l.f. in the same category! Leave me a comment telling me your favorite telling me your favorite makeup remover and skin type. Communication is the best way to figure out what the best products for your skin type and coloring are. I will see you all in my next video! Bye girlies!
